THE QUEER TABLE – Chef Matthew Bounds

The Neighbor Who Built a Community. One Cobbler at a Time

There are creators who cook, and then there re creators who nourish. Matthew, the heart and barefoot soul behind Your Barefoot Neighbor, belongs firmly in the second category. His digital kitchen is a place where generosity rises like dough, where recipes are invitations, and where community isn’t a buzzword, it’s the main ingredient. And nowhere is that more evident than in the dish that has become a signature of his brand’s warmth and simplicity: Chicken Cobbler.

If you’ve spent any time in Matthew’s corner of the internet, you’ve seen it: that golden, bubbling, deeply comforting Chicken Cobbler that feels like a hug baked in a casserole dish.

It’s the kind of recipe that travels well—to potlucks, to neighbors’ porches, to chosen‑family dinners, to the table after a long day when you need something that tastes like reassurance. It’s simple, unfussy, and wildly delicious, exactly the kind of food Matthew champions. It’s no wonder the dish has become a fan favorite, a community staple, and a recipe that people return to again and again.
